Future & Benefits of E-Learning
Lets look at the Future of e-learning.
What is E-Learning ?
‘E-Learning’, a term present in the education system, since the early 2000s. By definition e-learning is the process of learning through electric medium. With the intense development in mobile networks and the number of internet users, E-learning or Digital learning has become an alternative to conventional teaching methods.
Types of E-Learning
E-school
E- School are the Digital Transformation of school education into anywhere-anytime model. By this method practise, the students are nurtured with many live examples, better understanding of fundamentals etc.
Micro learning
Micro-learning focuses on the design of micro-learning activities through micro-steps in digital media environments, which already is a daily reality for today’s knowledge workers.
Gamified Learning
This method uses game thinking and game mechanics in a non-game context to engage users and solve problems. This prevents the users from losing interest or getting distracted from the learning process which is a common problem in traditional teaching methods.
Personalized Learning
It is the tailoring of pedagogy, curriculum and learning environments to meet the needs and aspirations of individual learners. This helps the learner to learn on his own wish, on his own interest of subjects or topics, and they can learn at anytime and anywhere.
Tools for E-Learning
With growing development in the technologies, we have n number of tools for E-learning or online learning. Some of the common tools are discussed here.
Zoom
Zoom is an online video conference application. During Covid-19, the number of users has surged dramatically. Zoom offers a variety of features for the users for a better experience. It has a simpler yet elegant user-interface, which is the prime reason for the growth of Zoom in recent years.
Google Meet
Google Meet is yet another video conference application developed by Google LLC. It is primarily used in online tutoring for school and college students. It is highly secures and specially encrypted for confidentiality reasons.
Virtual Reality
Virtual reality- a technological marvel. It is primarily used in Gamified Learning. It helps the users in concentrating on the topics and prevents from distraction. With benefits such as enhanced engagement, improved retention and experiential learning, this simulation-based technology has a potential to revolutionise e-learning.
Augmented Reality
Augmented reality and virtual reality are two similar concepts where one gives an individual user experience and AR helps in providing visual interface for a group of users at a time. With no, doubt that these two technologies will revolutionize E-learning, even the traditional teaching levels can be raised with these technologies.
Growth of E-Learning
Though E-learning is present in the market for a long period of time, it was not a very sought after method of teaching. But, the raise of Covid-19 and other modern policies in the field of education has paved a way for the growth of E-learning, dramatically.
Let’s look at some numbers to get a better understanding on how E-learning has grown in recent times.
- The Indian e-learning market size is about USD1.96 billion, which is predicted to be at 300 billion by the year 2025.
- There are currently 9.6 million e-learners in India.
- 730 million+ people are using internet in India.
- Government supports digital transformation learning through, Skill India and Digital India Schemes
