Priyanka visited a famous monument called “holyghar” located near Himalayas. It was a round structure consisting of 100 steps in spiral stairway to reach top. From top you can have overview of natural beauty surrounding that place. Priyanka thought of reaching the top. She also carried a lot of chocolates with her for kids. In the process of climbing up, with each step a chocolate falls from her bag.
When she reaches top, she donates half of the chocolates left with her to small kids. Again, in the process of climbing down a chocolate falls down with each step.
She repeats the same process at five holyghars and now she is left with no chocolates.
Can you find out the total number of chocolates she had with her initially?
9300 chocolates
Let’s start at the end. First we must deal with the Fifth Holligal.
Priyanka said she fell 100 steps, so he had to leave 100 chocolates after donating. Now she donates half of all her chocolates, so she needs to have 200 chocolates ready before she donates.
Currently, on her climb she loses 100 chocolates, so she needs a total of 300 chocolates before climbing her Holyghar on the 5th. Then follow the same steps for the fourth Holyghar. Therefore, we need (300+100)*2+100 chocolates, which is equivalent to 900, before moving up to 4th place.
Before her third ascension she should have (900+100)*2+100 or 2100. Now she should have her 4500 chocolates by her second climb.
Finally, before she climbs for the first time, she must have her 9300 chocolates. So initially she had a total of 9300 chocolates.
